Editorial Standards

Annotated EBooks holds its content to a clear, enforceable set of editorial standards. These standards govern quality, accuracy, transparency, and independence.

Accuracy

  • Every factual claim — names, dates, plot details, quotations — is verified against the primary text or a reliable reference source before publication.
  • We do not knowingly publish content we believe to be inaccurate.
  • We correct errors promptly and transparently when they are identified. See our corrections policy.

Quality

  • Content is written to be clear, useful, and readable — never padded to a length.
  • Guides are complete and self-contained: a reader should not need to consult several sources to follow one of our guides.
  • We apply consistent formatting, styling, and structure across the site.

Transparency

  • We distinguish clearly among: what the text states, what is historically documented, and what is interpretation or argument.
  • Where scholarship is disputed, we present the range of credible views rather than a single one.
  • We disclose our relationship with DodaBooks openly, in our about page.

Independence and conflicts of interest

  • Editorial judgment about a book’s content, quality, and meaning is independent of whether that book is sold through DodaBooks.
  • We review and analyze classic literature on its merits. A book is not praised because it is a DodaBooks title, nor criticized because it is not.
  • Any writers with a financial interest in the subject of an article do not review it without disclosure.

Originality

  • Content is original. We do not plagiarize from other publications or authors.
  • Where we build on a specific scholarly work, translation, or critical essay, we reference it and give credit.
  • We do not pass off AI-generated or third-party text as original research.

Corrections

  • We maintain a public, actionable corrections process. Errors reported by readers are investigated and, if confirmed, fixed and acknowledged. Full details are in our corrections policy.
