About Annotated EBooks
Annotated EBooks is a growing reference library and reading companion for classic literature. Our mission is simple: classic books, finally understandable.
The great works of literature — Moby-Dick, Pride and Prejudice, Dracula, Frankenstein, and hundreds more — are extraordinary not only for their stories but for how deeply they reward a reader who can follow their references, vocabulary, and historical context. Yet that context is exactly what stands between many modern readers and the books. Our work is to remove that barrier.
What we do
- Annotated editions — unabridged classic texts with historical notes, vocabulary explanations, and literary analysis, available at DodaBooks.
- Reading guides — plot summaries, chapter guides, character studies, themes, and symbolism, written to be genuinely helpful rather than intimidating.
- Literary analysis — essays and explainers on context, reception, and meaning.
- Historical reception — primary-source records of how classics were received when they first appeared.
Who it’s for
Our guides are written for students, teachers, lifelong readers, and anyone who has ever opened a classic, hit an unfamiliar word or reference, and wished someone were there to explain it. We aim to serve both first-time readers and those returning to a book for deeper study.
The DodaBooks relationship
Annotated EBooks is the editorial and reference layer; the annotated editions themselves are published and sold by our partner, DodaBooks. This site is where you come to understand the books; DodaBooks is where you go to own and read the annotated editions.
